  1. Looks good on the e-book reader, and does not add much size to it. The cover seems to be made out of leather. It is either really good faux leather or real, I can not tell. The cover has built in magnets on the front and back, so that it stays shut. It is held to the Reader by 2 plastic tabs, one on top, and one on bottom. They fit into holes in the Reader. The tabs are made of a high quality plastic, and do not seem flimsy or likely to break.

Another advantage of this cover is that it allows you to hold the reader as you would hold a real book. The reader + cover still can fit into my pocket. A great buy, it protects your expensive reader, looks good, and makes it more book-like.

Though the Sony Digital Reader Pocket Edition 300 comes with a cover, I never used it, since I bought this at the same time. I put the reader in my backpack since I ride a motorcycle to school and work, and it protects the reader very well. The leather is fairly thick and rigid. It also gives the feel that you are holding a book while reading. My only complaint is that the magnets are a little weak. The cover stays closed, but the magnets don’t really grab.

Sony’s other reader comes with a cover so I’m not sure why this one doesn’t. But whatever. It works.

  4. I love to read and this product is great for it’s intended purpose. I really like the fact that it remembers your place so you don’t have to worry about your bookmark falling out. It also has a surprisingly long battery life. I’ve read two books on it and only had to charge it one time. The only problem I have is due to my location. One of the main reasons I chose the Sony reader over the Kindle is because it allows you to check out books from libraries so you don’t have to purchase everything you read on it. I live in a small town and my local library does not support the digital media sites, so I am a little disappointed. I can’t use an out of town library without paying a hefty fee for a library card that expires in two years. This does not have anything to do with the actual product, but it is something to be aware of. Be sure to check with your library if this is a major selling point for you. I’m hoping my little town will catch up with technology in a few years, but until then I will have to purchase my books from the Sony e-store.

The Sony PRS-300 is the best pocket e-reader on the market. We have both the Sony 505 and the 300. The 505 is kept for bedside reading and the 300 is our take along reader. Great Sony libary for purchases and Sony gives you free access to public libaries around the country. Remember to get a wall charger with your purchase. Charging your reader through your computer via USB cord for any reader does not give a full charge for best reader performance.
